Jewellery FAQ's

Are your earrings sold as singles or pairs?

Covetear jewellery is all sold as single earrings, and where available, as a pair option. Stock is updated in real-time - so if the cart does not allow you to add a pair, this means we do not have enough stock. We recommend signing up for Back In Stock, and you will be notified once the pair is available.
Please Note: All earrings are packaged as single earrings in a certified sterilised envelope. If you have ordered a Pair, these will be delivered together in the same Covetear Keep Box.

How do I determine what size post length is right for me?

Each product on our site has a size guide that you can refer to before ordering. You can also find our size guide here.

What is the difference between a internally threaded and traditional stud?

Traditional studs are the most common type of earring, with a post and a traditional butterfly backing.

Covetear only produces internally threaded studs at this time.

For threaded studs, the post end gets inserted through the back of the ear with a font pendant that is screwed on clockwise. Internally threaded studs allow post lengths to be increased or decreased, meaning pieces are versatile and can work in multiple piercings placements. You can move your front pendant to a different location and simply swap out the post to the desired length.

Insert the wearable surface of the backing, which is the post, into your piercing from behind so that the ballflower is on the back of your ear. Then, insert the thread on the frontal into the post at the front of your ear and gently rotate the frontal clockwise to tighten. Continue until the frontal is flush with the post. Given the delicate nature of gold, be mindful not to overturn the frontal as it may damage the screw.

Does your 14K Gold contain Nickel?We exclusively use 14K Gold, which by global standard has 58.5% purity, and the remaining alloys can include silver, copper, zinc.
Some batches of our 14K Gold are blended with recycled gold prior to melting so we cannot guarantee the complete elimination of nickel. Our suppliers work towards threshold of less than .005%.
If you have a serious nickel allergy, you will need to wear titanium, stainless steel or 24k gold (the only grade of gold not mixed with alloys).

Why is my 14k gold piece tarnishing?
Discolouration can occur when chemicals, lotions, or sweat come in contact with your jewellery. To remove, gently wash your jewellery in medium-hot water and a small pinch of baking soda. You may gently use a soft toothbrush. If you are still having issues reach out to our team.

Can you repair my jewellery?
All of our jewellery has a warranty period of 12 months. Depending on the type of breakage and wear, we can offer a repair or a replacement in the case of a faulty product. Repairs and replacements outside of the warranty period may incur a fee.

Piercing FAQ's

Do I need to book an appointment?
Appointments are always preferred for piercings to avoid disappointment and to allow up to provide the most personalised service possible, but walk-ins are welcome depending on availability. You can book your appointment here.

What's included in the piercing service fee?

The piercing service fee covers the cost of the actual piercing itself and in some appointment types, the fee includes the cost of the Aftercare product. The piercing fee does not include the cost of jewellery. Please refer to our Pricing Page for inclusions and service prices.

How can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
You can reschedule or cancel your appointment by clicking the 'reschedule option' on your confirmation email. Appointment modifications can be made up to 24 hours before your apppintment time. If you need to make last minute changes to your appointment, please contact the store you have booked at and we will help you change your appointment.

How old do I have to be to get pierced?
You must be 8 years or older for Classic Lobe piercings. You must be 15 years or older for cartilage piercings and nose piercings. Minors aged 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Our age policy applies across all Australian States and territories.

Can I be pierced if I'm pregnant?
For you and your baby's health and safety, you cannot get a piercing at Covetear if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or 6 months postpartum.

How long should I wait between piercings? 
We are all unique and that’s what makes us beautiful. Healing is different from soul to soul. We typically recommend for your own comfort waiting until the soreness and swelling from your initial piercings goes away entirely, before dipping back in. For this reason, we offer complimentary follow up and aftercare consultations with our piercing masters to assess how you’re travelling, and ensure optimal results. 

Does Covetear do body piercings?
We’re all about the ears first and foremost, however we do offer nose piercings. Enquire today or make a booking. 

What happens to my old post when I downsize to a smaller post?
Covetear participates in a gold recycling program, which reduces the quantity of raw materials our company uses annually. When you downsize you may donate your used post, which is then sent away for recycling for future use. We replace your initial back piece with a shorter post at a discounted price.

Do you pierce with a needle or a gun?
We proudly pierce with single-use needles only. For more information on needle piercing read our journal post.

How many piercings can I get in one session?
Covetear has a policy of no more than four piercings per session, but this will depend on the piercing placements, your anatomy and can be subject to change based on the recommendation of your piercer.

Can I be pierced with my own jewellery?
We do not pierce with jewellery that is not Covetear. However, you are welcome to Re-Use your Covetear (front pendant only) by booking our Circular Piercing Experience. Getting pierced with existing jewellery will require you to clean your jewellery before coming into the studio, and to bring your Covetear jewellery in for sterilisation at least 3 hours prior to the appointment. We do not re-sue posts (back piece).

Can I use Covetear earrings purchased online at my piercing appointment?

Yes. However the following conditions apply:

1. Only earrings in their sterile pouch may be used for new/initial piercings. If the seal has been broken, or the film has been punctured, we are not able to pierce with these items. You will need to purchase new earrings at the time of the appointment. We cannot accept returns on the opened items.

2. We cannot guarantee that the earring items you have chosen will work for your desired piercing. If the post or front attachment is not the correct piece, you will need to purchase the new item at the time of your appointment, and any difference in price will be charged. We cannot guarantee availability of all styles at the time of your appointment.

3. Discounts on the original purchase will not apply to full price exchange items. Any difference must be paid prior to dispatch.

My Order

Was my order completed successfully?
Once the checkout process is complete, you will see a page that displays your order confirmation. In most cases you will receive an order confirmation within a few minutes of placing your order, however it may take up to 24 hours. A second email will be sent with parcel tracking information once the order has shipped. In the event that the payment transaction has not approved, you will be informed via email and you will not be charged for your order. You will have the opportunity to choose a different payment method at this point, or to save your order for later.

When will my order arrive?
Once your order is shipped, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. We use express services with tracking. Our aim is to get your Covetear to you as quickly as possible.

Purchases made during our popular sale events may have a delay in dispatch. You will be notified whe you receive your order confirmation.

What payment methods does Covetear accept?
We accept the following methods of payment: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay.

When will I pay for my order?
You will be charged immediately upon order placement across all order types, including available to ship, made-to-order, pre-order and backorders.

Shipping

How much is postage within Australia?

We offer free shipping on all orders within Australia over $200 value (after any discounts have been applied).
Orders between $0-$199.99 incur a flat rate fee of $10, anywhere in Australia.

What couriers do you use?

We use the following courier services:
Within Australia - Australia Post Express - 1-3 business days
International - DHL Worldwide, and Australia Post International Express. Express - 5 -7 business days

How long will it take to receive my order?
All Australia domestic orders sent via Australia Post Express.
For all states (excluding WA), you will receive your order within 3-5 business days.
For Western Australia orders, you will receive your order within 5-7 business days.

A tracking number will be provided once your order has been shipped.
Please allow an additional 3-5 business days during sale, holiday and promotional periods.

How can I track my order?
Your tracking information can be found on the shipping confirmation email that will be sent once your order has been dispatched. There is also a direct link within your personal account page. If you checked out as a guest, and cannot locate your tracking information, please contact us at customercare@covetear.com for further assistance.

Do you have Package Insurance?Yes! We use ShipInsure for Package Insurance. Protect Your Packages with Confidence!

ShipInsure is a premium package protection provider for Covetear. When you choose to add ShipInsure to your order in the Cart, you gain the benefit of filing claims with ease in case of lost, stolen, or damaged shipments.

Should you encounter any unfortunate incidents, simply file a claim with ShipInsure.

Shipinsure’s dedicated team will promptly review your claim and respond within 24 hours. If you have purchased ShipInsure Protection, you will receive a confirmation email from them with instructions on how to file a claim with them if needed.

Exchanges and Returns

Can I return Earrings?
Yes, provided they have not been removed from the blue sterile envelope, and that the sterile envelope has not been broken, pierced or tampered with. Due to a mandatory hygiene policy, if the sterile seal has been broken, we cannot accept a return on earrings.

We do not provide refunds on items purchased with a promotional code. You may return for a store credit, or exchange.

Sale items are final. No exchanges or refunds.

A $10 Restocking Fee will be charged on change of mind purchases, or incorrect size selection where no exchange item is selected.

What is your returns policy?
Covetear refunds and/or provides Store Credit for unused and unworn jewellery within 14 days of the dispatch date, with the exception of earrings that can only be returned under certain conditions as outlined above.  You can find our full Returns Policy here

Can I return or exchange my online purchases at a Covetear store?

No. Online orders must be returned via the Online returns Portal.

How to return your items/s:

  1. Lodge a return via our RETURN PORTAL
  2. Enter your order details.
  3. Select the item(s) you would like to return by checking the relevant boxes. Confirm the return reason for each item.
  4. Read our Return Policy and check the confirmation box.
  5. Choose your return resolution. You have the option of a store credit or a refund to your original payment method depending on your purchase.
  6. For all exchanges/change of of mind returns - youu will receive an email with return instructions. If the item is faulty, we will provide you with a returns label.
  7. Once your return has been received, checked and approved by our team your exchange, refund or store credit will be processed. Please allow for up to 5 business days for your refund to be received once approved.

How much is returns postage?
It varies depending on your choice of shipper. We recommend a trackable service so that you can monitor the return of your items.
