Jewellery that moves
Most earrings sit still. A threader moves.
A fine line of gold falling behind the lobe, a chain swinging gently between two piercings, a glint of diamond at the front with something softer trailing behind. Chain earrings bring movement to an ear curation in a way nothing else can, and they turn a collection of separate pieces into one considered design.
This is our guide to threader earrings and connector chains: what they are, the pieces we love most, and how to style them across your ear.
Threaders and connector chains: what's the difference?
They share the same delicate spirit, but they work in different ways.
A threader earring is a single piece: a front that sits like a stud, attached to a fine chain. The chain threads through your piercing and falls behind the ear, or travels through a second piercing to create a draped line of gold between the two.
A connector chain links pieces you already wear. It loops onto your favourite studs, hoops or flat backs, joining them together so two separate earrings read as one design.
One is the whole look in a single piece. The other connects the curation you already have. Both are sold individually, so you can wear one as a quiet detail or build several into your stack.
The pieces
Petit Diamond Threader
Our signature Petit Diamond Threader pairs a 2mm claw-set lab grown diamond with a fine cable chain. At the front, it reads as a perfect solitaire stud. Behind and below, the chain is yours to drape however you like. Crafted in 10K solid Fairtrade gold, in yellow or white, it is the most effortless way to add movement to a classic lobe.
Diamond Heart Threader
The Diamond Heart Threader follows the same design with a softer front: a tiny heart set with three lab grown diamonds. Romantic without being sweet, it brings a little personality to the front of the ear while the chain does the quiet work behind. Also crafted in 10K solid Fairtrade gold, in yellow or white.
Linky Earring Connector Chain
The Linky Connector Chain is for the curator who loves to experiment. Crafted in 14K solid gold, in yellow or white, it links and loops onto studs, hoops and flat backs to join pieces you already own. Choose from three lengths, 16mm, 22mm and 30mm, depending on the distance between your piercings and how much drape you want.
How to style them
The single drape. Wear a threader in one lobe and let the chain fall behind the ear. It is the simplest way to start, and it pairs beautifully with a hoop or huggie in the next piercing up.
The thread through. If you have stacked lobes, thread the chain from one piercing through the next. The front sits as a stud, and the chain creates a soft line of gold between the two.
Front to back. Link a connector chain from a stud at the front of your lobe to a flat back or hoop behind it, so the chain wraps gently around the lobe.
The cascade. Connect piercings side to side along the edge of your ear for a cascading effect. This works especially well when you match the chain to flat back studs or petit clickers.
Mix your metals. With every piece sold individually, you can pair a yellow gold threader with a white gold connector, or keep one ear all yellow and the other all white. There are no rules, only your curation.
