Covetear Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all purchases made through Covetear Pty Ltd. They may only be varied by a written agreement signed by both Covetear Pty Ltd and the customer.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be severed from the remainder of the Terms. The remaining provisions will continue to apply in full, in accordance with the original intent of the agreement.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Both parties agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland for the resolution of any disputes arising under these Terms.

Welcome to www.covetear.com (the 'Website'). The Website provides you with an opportunity to browse and purchase various products that have been listed for sale through the Website (the 'Products').

  • The Website provides this service by way of granting you access to the content on the Website (the 'Purchase Services').

Unless otherwise indicated, all rights (including copyright) in the site content and compilation of the website (including text, graphics, logos, button icons, video images, audio clips and software) (the 'Content') are owned or controlled for these purposes, and are reserved by COVETEAR Pty Ltd. or its contributors. 

COVETEAR Pty Ltd. will make every effort to ensure a Product is accurately depicted on the Website, however, you acknowledge that sizes, colours and packaging may differ from what is displayed on the Website.

You may not, without the prior written permission of COVETEAR Pty Ltd. and the permission of any other relevant rights owners: broadcast, republish, up-load to a third party, transmit, post, distribute, show or play in public, adapt or change in any way the Content or third party content for any purpose. This prohibition does not extend to materials on the Website, which are freely available for re-use or are in the public domain. 

Marketing Communications

Email Marketing

By consenting to Covetear's email marketing at checkout, by initialising a purchase, or by subscribing via our subscription tools, you agree to receive recurring email communications from us. These may include order updates, abandoned cart reminders, promotional offers, product recommendations, and transactional emails, including requests for reviews. Email frequency varies. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in the footer of any marketing email, or by contacting us at customercare@covetear.com. We will honour all opt-out requests promptly and within the timeframes required by applicable law. Please note that transactional and account-related emails, including order confirmations, shipping updates, and legally required notices, may continue to be sent following an opt-out from marketing communications, as these are necessary for the fulfilment of your purchase or our legal obligations.

We do not charge for email communications. Standard internet or data charges imposed by your provider may apply. For any questions, please contact us at customercare@covetear.com.

We reserve the right to modify the email addresses or sending domains used to deliver our communications. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for failed, delayed, or misdirected delivery of emails, errors in such communications, or any action taken or not taken in reliance on them.

Your personal information is handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and applicable international privacy laws, including the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on how we collect, use, and store your information.

SMS Marketing

By consenting to Covetear's SMS marketing at checkout, by initialising a purchase, or by subscribing via our subscription tools, you agree to receive recurring text notifications from us. These may include order updates, abandoned cart reminders, promotional offers, and transactional messages, including requests for reviews. Message frequency varies. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

To opt out of SMS marketing messages at any time, reply STOP to any message sent from us. You may also contact us at customercare@covetear.com to request removal. We will process all opt-out requests promptly and in accordance with applicable law. Once you opt out, you will no longer receive marketing messages, though you may continue to receive transactional messages necessary for the fulfilment of any active orders.

We do not charge for this service. Message and data rates imposed by your mobile provider may apply. For assistance, reply HELP to any message received from us, or contact us at customercare@covetear.com.

We reserve the right to modify any telephone number or short code used to operate this service. Where reasonably practicable, we will notify you of such changes in advance. We recommend saving our contact details to ensure continued receipt of important messages. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for failed, delayed, or misdirected delivery of messages sent through this service, or for any action taken or not taken in reliance on those messages.

Virtual Try-On & Look Builder (Tangiblee)

Covetear offers a virtual try-on and look-building experience powered by third-party technology provided by Tangiblee Inc. (“Virtual Try-On Service”) to help customers visualise jewellery placement and styling prior to purchase.

a. Use of Images & Camera Access

When using the Virtual Try-On Service, you may choose to:

  • Enable your device camera to capture a live image; or
  • Upload a photo for the purpose of visualising jewellery placement.

By using this feature, you consent to the temporary processing of images solely to provide the Virtual Try-On experience.

Covetear does not store or retain customer images generated through the Virtual Try-On Service. Image processing is handled by Tangiblee in accordance with their privacy and data-handling practices.

b. Data Privacy

Any personal information collected through your use of the Virtual Try-On Service is handled in accordance with:

  • Covetear’s Privacy Policy; and
  • Applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Images are used only to deliver the Virtual Try-On experience and are not used for identification purposes.

c. Accuracy & Visual Representation Disclaimer

The Virtual Try-On Service provides a digital, true-to-scale visual approximation of jewellery placement. However:

  • The virtual representation is for illustrative purposes only;
  • Actual appearance, colour, size, and fit may vary due to lighting, anatomy, screen display, and individual piercing placement;
  • The experience does not replace professional piercing advice or in-store fitting.

Customers remain responsible for selecting the correct jewellery size, post length, and style prior to purchase. Covetear provides detailed product descriptions and size guides to assist with accurate selection.

d. Orders, Fit & Responsibility

Use of the Virtual Try-On Service does not guarantee fit or suitability for your specific piercing or anatomy. If you proceed directly from the Virtual Try-On experience to checkout, you acknowledge that you are responsible for reviewing product details and selecting the correct specifications.

e. Returns & Exchanges

Use of the Virtual Try-On Service does not alter Covetear’s standard returns and exchanges policy.

For hygiene and safety reasons:

  • Earrings and piercing jewellery are generally non-returnable once opened or worn, unless required by Australian Consumer Law;
  • Custom, personalised, or made-to-order items remain non-returnable.

6. Acceptable Use

The Virtual Try-On Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. You must not:

  • Use the service for commercial purposes;
  • Attempt to extract, scrape, or reproduce product data, images, or technology;
  • Misuse or interfere with the operation of the service.

By accessing or using the Virtual Try-On Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

Piercing Appointment Bookings

Securing Your Appointment

A valid credit card is required to secure all piercing appointments. Your card will not be charged at the time of booking unless your appointment is part of a promotional offer requiring prepayment (see Promotional Bookings below).

Cancellations and No-Shows

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, or where the customer does not attend, will be charged the full-service fee applicable to the booked appointment to the card on file. The full-service fee is the total cost of the piercing service booked, excluding jewellery. This charge will be applied at the time of the missed or late-cancelled appointment.

If a no-show charge has been applied, you may rebook your appointment at any time without incurring a further deposit or charge. Rebookings following a no-show must be made directly with your preferred Covetear studio and cannot be made via the online booking system.

Rescheduling

You may reschedule your appointment at any time with more than 24 hours notice at no charge. For same-day rescheduling, please contact your preferred studio directly. Repeated rescheduling of the same appointment may, at Covetear's discretion, be treated as a cancellation and subject to the cancellation policy above.

Lateness

We hold appointments for up to 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. Arrivals after this point may be treated as a no-show at the studio's discretion, and the full-service fee may be charged to the card on file. Where time permits, we will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, however we cannot guarantee the full appointment can be completed.

Promotional Bookings

Some piercing promotions require a non-refundable prepayment at the time of booking. This amount will be forfeited in full if the appointment is cancelled for any reason, including cancellations made with more than 24 hours notice. Promotional rates apply only to the specific service booked and cannot be transferred to an alternative piercing type or redeemed against other services or products. If an appointment is rescheduled, the promotional rate will be honoured only if the promotion is still active at the time of the rescheduled appointment. If the promotion has ended, the current full-service rate will apply.

Age Requirements and Parental Consent

Customers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the time of their appointment. The accompanying adult must provide valid government-issued photo identification and sign a consent form on behalf of the minor prior to the piercing being performed.

Covetear reserves the right to refuse a piercing appointment where appropriate consent or identification cannot be provided. Age restrictions may apply to certain piercing types in accordance with applicable law and Covetear's internal guidelines.

Please contact your preferred studio prior to booking if you have questions regarding age requirements for a specific piercing.

Health Disclosures and Contraindications

For your safety and the safety of our staff, you are required to disclose any relevant medical conditions, known metal allergies, current medications (including but not limited to blood thinners or immunosuppressants), skin conditions, or other health factors that may affect your suitability for a piercing prior to your appointment. This information will be requested at the time of your appointment via a client intake process.

Covetear reserves the right to decline or halt a piercing at any point during the appointment where a health risk, contraindication, or safety concern is identified by our piercing staff. This decision is made at the sole discretion of the piercer and is taken in the interest of your health and wellbeing. No charge will be applied where an appointment is declined prior to commencement on health grounds. Where a piercing is halted mid-appointment for safety reasons, Covetear's liability is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Please contact your preferred studio prior to booking if you have questions regarding age requirements for a specific piercing.

Our Right to Refuse or Advise

Right to Refuse Service

Covetear reserves the right to refuse or discontinue a piercing appointment at the discretion of our piercing staff. This includes, but is not limited to, circumstances where a customer appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, where the piercing site is deemed unsuitable due to skin condition or anatomy, where the customer is behaving in a manner that compromises the safety or comfort of staff or other customers, or where any other safety or suitability concern is identified. Where an appointment is refused prior to commencement on these grounds, no charge will be applied. Covetear will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience arising from the exercise of this right.

Piercer Discretion and Jewellery Suitability

Our piercers are trained professionals whose primary obligation is to your safety and the long-term success of your piercing. The piercer reserves the right to recommend against a specific jewellery style, size, or placement based on your individual anatomy, skin condition, or other factors identified at the time of your appointment. This recommendation applies regardless of jewellery purchased in advance, whether in-store or online. Covetear will not be liable for piercing complications arising from a customer's decision to proceed against the piercer's professional advice.

Aftercare, Healing and Liability

Aftercare and Healing Outcomes

Covetear will provide aftercare guidance at the time of your appointment. You are responsible for following this guidance to support the healing process. Healing outcomes are affected by individual anatomy, aftercare compliance, lifestyle factors, and other variables outside Covetear's control. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Covetear will not be liable for healing complications, piercing rejection, adverse reactions, or other outcomes arising after the appointment, including where aftercare instructions have not been followed.

Liability Limitation

To the extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law and any other applicable legislation, Covetear's liability in connection with piercing services is limited to the cost of the service provided. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty, or other term or condition, implied or imposed by any legislation which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Using Online Orders In-Studio

Sterile Packaging Requirements

Only earrings presented in their original, sealed sterile pouch may be used for new or initial piercings. If the sterile seal has been broken, the film punctured, or the packaging compromised in any way, we are unable to use those items for your piercing. In this circumstance, you will be required to purchase suitable jewellery at the time of your appointment. Opened or compromised items cannot be returned or exchanged. The determination of whether packaging meets our sterile requirements is made at the sole discretion of Covetear piercing staff.

Jewellery Suitability for Your Piercing

We are unable to guarantee that jewellery purchased online will be suitable for your desired piercing. Suitability is affected by factors including post length, gauge, front attachment size, and individual anatomy, and can only be assessed at the time of your appointment. If the item you have purchased is not suitable for your piercing, you will be required to purchase an appropriate alternative at the time of your appointment. Your original online purchase can be returned via our Online Returns Portal. We do not process exchanges or returns for online purchases in-store.

Piercer Discretion

As noted above, our piercers reserve the right to recommend against the use of any jewellery item based on their professional assessment of your anatomy or the suitability of the piece. This applies to both online and in-store purchases. Covetear will not be liable for any costs incurred as a result of jewellery being deemed unsuitable at the time of your appointment.

Free Piercing Appointments

Inclusions
The Free Piercing Experience includes ear curation and up to three (3) complimentary piercing procedures per appointment, for one person. The piercing procedure is complimentary. Jewellery is not included.

Jewellery
All jewellery is priced separately and must be selected and purchased on the day from Covetear's in-store 14K gold collection. Jewellery prices start from $170 per piece. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Jewellery Restrictions
The following jewellery may not be used at the Free Piercing Experience:
(a) Jewellery purchased online through covetear.com or any other channel prior to the appointment;
(b) Jewellery from an existing Covetear piercing (Circular Piercing service);
(c) Any other pre-purchased jewellery not sourced from Covetear's in-store collection on the day of the appointment.
Customers wishing to use pre-purchased jewellery should book a regular appointment.

Security Hold
Due to high demand, a security hold of $100 AUD is required to confirm a Free Piercing Experience booking. This amount is held at the time of booking and is not a charge. Further details regarding the conditions under which the security hold may be applied are available from your studio directly.

Promotions and Discounts
No promotions, discounts, or offers may be combined with the Free Piercing Experience, with the exception of Stack Club redemptions. Stack Club redemptions may be applied at the time of the appointment in accordance with Stack Club terms.

Reservations
Covetear recommends that customers browse the jewellery collection at covetear.com prior to their appointment. Customers wishing to reserve a specific piece should contact their studio directly prior to the appointment date. Covetear does not guarantee the availability of any specific style or piece.

Eligibility
This offer is available for new piercings only and is subject to suitability assessment by the piercing team on the day. Covetear reserves the right to decline a piercing service where it determines, in its reasonable discretion, that the service is not appropriate for the customer.

Puchasing

In order to access the Purchase Services, you may first register as a user of the Website or place an order without creating an account. As part of the registration process, or as part of your continued use of the Purchase Services, you may be required to provide personal information about yourself (such as identification or contact details), including address, email and password.

You warrant that any information you give to COVETEAR Pty Ltd. in the course of completing the purchase process will always be accurate, correct and up to date. Before you place your order, you will be given the opportunity to review your selections, the information you have provided, the total price of your order and correct any input errors.

By placing an order on covetear.com, you agree to receive marketing communications from COVETEAR Pty Ltd, from which you can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in the email footer. 

Payments

Payment of the Purchase Price may be made through (the 'Payment Gateway Provider'). In using the Purchase Services, you warrant that you have familiarised yourself with, and agree to be bound by, the applicable Terms and Conditions of Use, Privacy Policy and other relevant legal documentation provided by the Payment Gateway Providers. 

For security reasons, we do not store any payment information in our database. We are not responsible for any charges or penalties which may be imposed by the payment provider as a result of payment being processed in respect of your order.

Credit Cards

Payment can be made by the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and Amex. Purchases made instore are verified by Shopify Payments.

All credit/debit card transactions on the Website are processed using Shopify Payments or Stripe. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to authorise payment to COVETEAR Pty Ltd, your order will be not processed and accepted.

Buy Now Pay Later Payment Options

When selecting the Afterpay, Zip Pay or Klarna payment option, you will be directed to the relevant platforms site to “Log In” and review the amount shown before clicking “Pay Now”. Once this transaction is complete, you will then return to the Website. If the Afterpay refuses to authorise payment to COVETEAR Pty Ltd, your order will not be processed and accepted. 

Gift Vouchers and Store Credits

  • Covetear Gift Cards Vouchers and Store Credits will be valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
  • Gift Vouchers and Store Credits may only be redeemed online at covetear.com or in-store at a Covetear Studio
  • Online and In-store gift Vouchers and Store Credits are not interchangeable or transferrable between customers.
  • Gift cards are issued in AUD however can be used in either currency for redemption.
  • Gift cards may not be exchanged if lost or stolen.
  • If a purchase does not use the full value of the gift card, any remaining balance can be used for future purchases prior to the expiry of the card. Any balance that remains on the card at expiry will not be available for use. 

Availability

COVETEAR Pty Ltd cannot guarantee that all products marked as available are in stock at the time of your order due to stock discrepancies. If a product is unavailable, we may contact you by phone or by e-mail to indicate any delays. 

Please note that products in your shopping bag are not reserved and may be purchased by other customers until you have placed the order at checkout and received the order confirmation email.

Pre-Orders and Made-On-Demand/Order

Styles marked as Pre-Order, Made-To-Order or Made-On-Demand will be delivered according to the estimated dispatch date listed in the item description.
You will receive an order confirmation once your purchase is placed. We'll contact you again when your Pre-Order or Made-To-Order item arrives at our warehouse and is ready to ship. A separate shipping confirmation will follow once the item has been dispatched.

If your order contains both ready-to-ship and Pre-Order/Made-To-Order items, we will partially fulfil your order—ready-to-ship items will be sent first, and Pre-Order/Made-To-Order items will follow at a later date.

We endeavour to deliver Made-To-Order pieces within the stated timeframe; however, these items are handcrafted and subject to raw material availability and manufacturing capacity. Covetear reserves the right to reasonably extend the delivery window where necessary. Customers will be notified in the event of a delay.

Made-To-Order items cannot be cancelled, unless the estimated delivery timeframe has been exceeded by more than 30 days.

Order Confirmation

Following payment of the Purchase Price being confirmed by COVETEAR Pty Ltd, you will be issued with an order confirmation email to confirm that the payment has been received and COVETEAR Pty Ltd may record your purchase details for future use. The confirmation email also provides you with a tax invoice and gift receipt. 

Please note that the confirmation e-mail is an acknowledgement that we have received your order and is not an acceptance of the order.

Returns, Refunds and Warranty

Gift Cards purchased online are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Liability

To the extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law and any other applicable legislation, Covetear Pty Ltd's total liability arising out of or in connection with any purchase made through our website or these Terms, however arising, including under contract, tort (including negligence), in equity, or under statute, will not exceed the most recent purchase price paid by you for the relevant product or service. Where no purchase price has been paid, our total liability is limited to the resupply of the relevant information or service.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Covetear Pty Ltd, its affiliates, employees, agents, contributors, third party content providers, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of our website or purchase services, however caused and under any theory of liability. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of profit, loss of goodwill or business reputation, or any other intangible loss.

Covetear Pty Ltd is not responsible for any content posted on our website by users or third parties, or for any content provided in connection with third party services linked to or integrated with our purchase services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law or any other legislation that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Termination and Account Deletion

Subject to applicable law, Covetear Pty Ltd reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to our website or purchase services at any time and without notice if you breach any provision of these Terms, violate any applicable law, or engage in conduct that adversely impacts Covetear Pty Ltd's reputation or the rights of any other party.

Where your access is terminated due to a breach of these Terms, any outstanding orders will be handled in accordance with our standard fulfilment and refund policies, to the extent required by the Australian Consumer Law.

If you wish to delete your account, please contact us at customercare@covetear.com and our team will assist you. Please note that account deletion does not affect any rights or obligations that arose prior to deletion, including any outstanding orders or disputes.
